RENOVATION WORKS FEB 2024

Nestled in the picturesque village, the Esholt War Memorial Institute stands as a testament to remembrance and community spirit. Erected in the 1920’s to honour the fallen heroes of the First World War, the hall has weathered a century of history. Used as a hub for various activities., from indoor and outdoor bowling to council forums, barbecues, art classes and festive celebrations, it has witnessed countless moments of joy and celebration.
But as the years roll by, the wooden framework has begun to show its age with the front door and balcony area at the back looking particularly worse for wear with many sections being attacked by rot
In keeping with the committee’s commitment to maintain the building for the community and future generations to enjoy, a woodwork restoration project commenced. As a listed building, special considerations needed to apply to the work to ensure appropriate permissions were obtained and the work replicated the original design. With reverence for the past, skilled craftsmen have set to work and the Institute now has a strong and durable front door and the work on the back-balcony area is well under way.
Thanks, are given to all members of the committee who have given up their free time to work on this project and for the help of the specialist woodwork company engaged. We think you will agree how smart the new woodwork looks.
